Stolen Bits of Time
In the rooms of my mind,
Certain memories stay,
A new kind of armor,
All pain kept at bay.
We skipped down dark streets
On those warm summer nights,
We declared heartfelt love
In the midst of our fights.
We sipped soymilk at sunset,
Then it spilled on the floor.
And we laughed as we cleaned,
But then we spilled more.
We danced on the rooftops,
And never did fall,
The wind rushed right past
We were held in its thrall.
Blue glass in a backpack,
All our spoils collected,
Dumped all on my bed,
All the trash we collected.
Eating muffins in bushes,
We hid out of sight,
For the sense of adventure?
We stayed the whole night.
These memories save me,
They hold off my crying,
And make no mistake,
They have kept me from dying.
