Life Without Parents
I keep you inside,
Your very soul,
And nourish you and hide
You from the evil world.
You mean more to me
Than the best of all worlds;
My love I lavish you with,
I am your mother.
***
I see you grow
And watch you live;
Your journey from the womb
I guide you through it.
Though harsh I appear,
You are my living hope;
The hope to live a life
Best in all respects.
I watch you through life,
I am your father.
***
We help you grow,
You prosper in life.
You succeed in all your ventures
And face no harmful strife.
We give and we give,
Hoping for nothing in return.
What we do hope
Is for you to have the best.
But as days go by,
You grow distant;
Our love you forget,
You become so aloof.
We hold out our hand,
But you ignore us.
You fail to realize
That your life we have lived first.
You may prosper always
And succeed more than the rest;
You may not remember
Our hopes for you and the best.
But, dear child,
You will soon know
That this life that you live
Is a life without parents.
This life that you live
Is a meaningless life.
