A Day at the Beach
A day at the beach,
 Toe’s in the sand.

 Scattered clouds,
 On a blue canvas.

 Waves crashing on the shore
A cool breeze rustles my hair

 Smiles on our faces
Aunt Rosylin’s smile was a legend.

 Little did I know,
It would be the last time I’d see it.

 It was hard to tell,
But stage four cancer had taken over her body.

 First her lungs,
 Then everywhere.

 All of her organs,
 Even her bones.

 Everyone was surprised
 Because she never smoked.

If only her father had known,
That his second hand smoke was most likely the cause.

I wish she could be here,
 Right at my side

 A day at the beach,
 Toes in the sand

  Scattered clouds,
 On a blue canvas.

 A cool breeze
 Blowing through our hair.

But there’s only one set of foot prints
 Walking through the sand.
