Ode to Badminton

It begins
With a serve.
The intensity
Escalates quickly.
Slam after slam
No progress.
And then
An oh so mischievous
Drop-shot.
It’s do or die.
An all-out sprint
To the net
Barely hitting the birdie
With my racket
And then
The soft clash
Of the bird
And the net
Which means
It’s over.
Until the next serve.
