Don't Be Me, 'Cause I Need You
You’re walking home, late at night
I’m wondering if I am right
Will you fall the way I lead-
Bleed yourself the way I bled?
Taste the copper, iron, cash-
Smoke the pot, the rox, the hash?
You were good before I came
I teased you senseless, I’m to blame.
I’d see the pain inside your eyes,
If I could look, past your lies.
You hide it well, you’re so composed
You’re blossoming like a crimson rose.
Please step back, and look at me
This is not who you should be.
What was that? Your own advice-
The reason why I thought it twice.
I gave up, and you should too-
Think about what you could do.
You’ll soar beyond the clouds and back-
Breathe the freedom that I lack-
Taste the air sprinkled with hope,
All the things I’ll never know.
Please, if what I think is true,
Don’t be me, ‘cause I need you.
