Culture Shock
cultures clash.
I hate this feeling cause
it surrounds me
every time I come back.
Won’t leave me behind,
it just leaves me blind.
cant get
away
every night this thought surrounds me:
are you ashamed of who you are?
Can these memories become
any stronger than
they already are? Won’t
stop till I change
but in a good way
in this culture we center ourselves
around
ourselves
and not much more.
these bracelets on my wrists
a constant reminder
of the lesson I missed.
though crooked they sing straight
of a people who understand
so much more
so much more
they get it,
they get life.
and while we’re over here searching
they are receiving,
cause they understand.
and when cultures
clashed
I didn’t look back.
but now I turn my
head.
