Escape
Coming upon a crossroad
She stopped and stared blankly
At the mirage she’d been chasing
She was weary of it
For once her head turned
Left, right, left. She thought,
Dreamed of what lay beyond
Concealed in notions of paths she knew
If she should turn
With her ear to the ground and her eyes to the sky
She heard hushed murmurs
Of something that knew all her life
Her eyes swam like cloudy waters
Sweet hypnotism in her mind
Uncertainty gripping her breast
She stepped towards the mirage
And turned toward reality
