The cold is unending,
The heat never sleeps.
I’m lost amongst darkness,
The pain is so deep.
The sounds of the night,
Are all I can hear.
Despair and Anger are replaced with fear.
I look all around me,
And I wish to be free.
I work all day,
And I cry all night.
I do as they say,
Because I’ve lost the fight.
There is hunger and sadness and cruelty and death.
I wonder, dear God, is it true what they say?
Do I belong in this hell? Should I be treated this way?
I glance at my forearm and know it is true.
You can starve me, abuse me, and throw me away.
I am nothing, a no one, that will never see day.

This is a poem I made during my world History class while learning about the Holocaust.
