Friend
Sometimes pain goes beyond words,
Music, love and chirping birds.
It turns immeasurably severe,
Your heart turns heavier and heavier.
But then a friend stands by your side,
Wipes the tears from your eye,
Hugs you tightly,
Pats you lightly,
Tells you he’s with you forever,
And that his love will seize never.
You feel a smile spread,
And with happiness you’re fed.
A tear crosses your cheek,
The pain has left,
And you are no longer bereft.
So let this message spread to all my friends,
The broken heart that they can mend,
Would have been forlorn and lifeless,
Without their friendship so priceless.
