A truly broken heart
I sit holding her hand
for what seems like hours.
A soft beep is the only sound in the room.
each one is re- assurence that she is still there.
She is still behind her closed eyes,
but it's hard to believe when she lies so still.
Tears roll down my face,
and I'm reminded of how she would wipe them away for me,
if only she were truly there.
