Oh, Lord
Say oh Lord, You care for me,
For the world tells me differently.
The world says my color makes me low.
It casts a dark cloud everywhere I go.
But though I live in the shadow of my color
I also live in the shadow of the cross.
There all my burdens are lowered,
and all my are forever lost.
One day my shackles will be shaken,
By taking the road servants have taken.
When I reach my destination,oh, what a sight it will be!
Like raindrops fall, so my tears of joy will be.
I hear the words "Lead us on, Moses.
Take us to the land that is God's promise."
Lead your people from the highest to the lowest.
Lead us to freedom, and release us from the cruelest.
I pray, oh Lord, as the night grows old,
That you will direct my path and guard my soul.
The danger ahead is enough to make me tremble,
But I put my trust in you, soley and completely.
The night is my camouflauge,
The darkness, my cover.
Though it provides some protection, it doesn't last long,
For the night holds several slave searchers.
One day I'll taste a freedom like no other,
Either here on earth or with the angels above.
Instead of hymns sung with sadness and sorrow,
I'll sing joyfully with the angels forever and always.
I see a sign that means I am nearing
A goal of mine, a taste of freedom.
My eyes are wet , but there is no sorrow.
For the Lord brought me here, and I have hope for tomorrow.
When I reach my home in heaven,
I hope to be rembered for my pain and passion.
To hear the words, "Well done, good and faithful servant,"
Twill be the owrth of Harriet Tubman
