Five Pennies
There are five pennies in the dresser,
in which he kept his watch.
Behind the blue door there is a hook,
where he hung his coat to dry.
There are sheets in the pantry;
crumpled long ago.
Boxes in the attic,
has he opened them before?
the finely clad move about,
tears of plastic flow-
next to those five pennies;
behind that meloncholy door,
a bright light affixed upon his head;
the golden heart is stone.
