Right Side Up or Right Side Down
A picture hangs upon my wall,
One half is shrouded, fog-stained grey.
But whose mountain towers, proud and tall,
And shows with pride the light of day.
“Dark-side up”, my left-mind said,
The mountain is but a mere reflection,
Of what is real, the dusky realm,
Where light melts into dark perceptions.
But every person has two sides
And my right called out for the other way.
“Its light, that! is a truthful capture,
Of what the world wants most to say.”
There is some comfort in knowing, though,
That this problem is not mine to keep.
Hundreds of others, torn by their minds,
Are brought to their knees to think and weep.
And so I stand, before the image,
Whose halves amazingly interlink,
To form such an accurate description
Of life, perspective, and how we think.
