Boredom at Its Finest
My brother reads his book
unwilling to talk
My father stares down the traffic
wishing we could walk
My mother squawks loudly
into the phone
leaving me to slump down
and write this alone
The truth is
I have nothing to say
but I'll pass the time
and write this anyway
I rarely drink pop
because it's so fizzy
and I never get car sick
but sometimes feel dizzy
I wish I'd get sick
so I could miss school
but then when I took tests
I'd look like a fool
I have Spanish homework
but I'll do it in study hall my favorite Spanish phrase
will always be "¿Qué tal?"
What's up now
is that they finally talked to me
asking if I want
anything to eat
I shrug a little
and say I don't care
after all
it's only fair
because food isn't something
I can afford
I'm just the kid in the back
who's much too bored
