The Girl in Red
Fast is the girl in the red.
Her swiftness is unmatched.
Her speed and grace is marvelous.
The red of her coat, the red of her dress.
As she passes, which you might not notice,
She casts a crimson stream upon the land she strides.
It is said that only one person has ever seen her face;
her mother.
It is also rumored that the girl is the fairest of all,
especially her ruby eyes.
Eyes, so lovely, that they can stun a man a mile away.
That is why she runs.
She runs to stay away from all,
those that would chase her.
So, red, the color she wears to announce to the world,
that she is free.
Free of all men. Free of those that could not,
and will not, have her.
She is the girl in the red.
