Without Pain
We met the change agreeably
Chose to desensitize
Perhaps too emphatically
As so was our demise
The state it came upon us
Prompt like our acceptance
And numbed much of our consciousness
By dulling every sense
For to suffer you must first feel
Hard blows or subtle loss
All injuries eventually heal
Relief is worth the cost
It seems the cruelest sensation
Is when sensation’s lacking
