Catalyst
Nothing ever happens
The way we expect it to.
Some detail always changes
No matter what we do.
Whether falling apart
Or building back up,
It never seems like enough.
The world is on fire.
And there you are
In the center of it all,
The catalyst who set into motion
This chain of events which has cast a dark pall
Over my life.
So out of the darkness of the night
I write to fill my empty heart,
But we can never be apart,
Because without my catalyst I would have no heart to fill.
And sometimes late at night I wonder:
I've been preparing to fall,
But what if I fly instead?
I've been running backward,
But what if I come out ahead?
So from my distress
Which you have brought to me,
I wish you the best,
My catalyst.
