A Poem For You
I said I'd write you a poem, so I guess I'll give it a shot.
It's just hard to write through these tears, getting caught,
In my throat like all the words that went unsaid,
just another pound to add to the load, weighing me down like lead,
As i tread through the mud in this storm,
I'm sobbing into my hands, to keep them warm.
There are too many trees to see the roads just yards away from me,
an the rain is coming down so fast, that I can't hear the cars that pass,
Like it's just another day, and my world wasn't just torn away.
Like a wounded soldier, I drag my feet just a little further,
To the tree where i carved your name and put a heart around it.
With a shaking hand I pull that same knife out of my pocket,
And start getting rid of the evidence,
Like a convict avoiding a death sentence.
With each stroke of the blade, I feel is cut into me,
Like the heart on this tree is the one that beats inside me.
I couldn't tell you how much it hurt if I tried,
But I'll tell you that every time I said I'm fine, I lied.
I guess that means I'm going to he**.
Til I see you there, I wish you well.
Seriously though, I wish you the best in all you do.
I can only hope you wish the same for me too,
I don't want you to get the wrong idea and think I'm trynna hate.
I honestly love you, I just find it hard for us to relate.
Look, what I'm trying to say is you didn't do anything wrong.
It's my bad too, becuse it takes two not get along.
Now, I know telling you how I feel usually leads to fight,
But instead of making you angry, I hope this poem makes things right.

He dumped me before I got the chance. So I wrote this poem-all true, by the way- in hopes that it would help him see how hurt I was, without ruining our fragile friendship.
He hasn't talked to me since.
Whether that's because he was pissed off, or creeped out, I don't know. But I do know now that he was never right for me.
