Winter Called to Me
Today the winter called to me.
Today I heard her speak.
Today the winter spoke to me
Upon the mountain's peak.
She whispered softly in my ear.
Told me secrets no one knew.
She stayed with me a while
But then away she flew.
I've seen her often from afar.
But she did not speak again.
I called to her so many times,
But it was all in vain.
For though she once spoke,
And whispered in my ear.
It will not be like that again,
Or so it is I fear.
For winter's grace and beauty,
Which time just keeps repeating,
And her elegance and glory,
Is so ever fleeting.
As soon as winter comes,
Summer comes as well.
And as soon as summer comes,
Winter says farewell.
