Mirror
I looked in the mirror and what did I see?
A small little girl looking back at me
Covered with bruises and caked in dirt
A silly little smile that hides the hurt
But in those large solemn eyes
I could see past all the lies

I looked in the mirror and what did I see?
A chubby little girl looking back at me
Hiding herself with a shirt too big
Because he told her she looked like a pig
Big brown eyes filled with tears
Haunted by the things she hears

I look in the mirror and what do I see?
A strong teen looking back at me
Independent and wary, she stands tall
Never let's anyone close, afraid she'd fall
Down her cheek falls a single tear
 Lonely without anyone near

I'll look in the mirror and what will I see?
A grown up woman looking back at me
Smart, she worked to achieve her degrees
Believing, perhaps, she is finally free
But tired eyes reveal her never ending nightmares
I bet she still wonders if anyone cares

I'll look in the mirror and what will I see?
A little old lady looking back at me
Her hair streaked with silver and gray
She couldn't say what she wanted to say
Face lined with wrinkles of long worn fret
Simply because her father felt no regret

I look in the mirror and what do I see?
 Me, looking back at me...
