Fourth Of July Love
Fireworks of many hues are bursting in the sky.
Sitting on the pier with you on the Fourth of July.
The National Anthem is playing now, we start to sing.
You grab my hand, get on one knee, and offer me a ring.
I say yes, smile, and blush, tears come from my eyes.
I never knew this day could endure such a wonderful surprise.
We hug, and kiss, and dance up and down the pier.
It’s amazing to know that our future will all unravel here.
Dressed in red, white, and blue, its a patriotic day.
I know in a week you will be deported and going away.
But I know in my heart, no matter where you are, you will always be here.
You hold me, hug me, kiss me, and wipe away my last tear.
If only you knew how much I will miss you for the month that you are gone.
As I replay our memories in my mind and listen to our song.
Flip through photos upon photos, and text you every night.
If only I could be there with you to hold on to you tight.
I count the days and weeks you’re gone, and I finally get to four.
The hours, the minutes, and finally the seconds, when I see your ship at shore.
I jump for joy and start to cry, you wave to me on the dock.
I jump in the water and swim to you, you do the same, everyone stands in shock.
You through your cover in the air, I catch it, put it on my head.
We come to the sand, you pick me up and twirl me around and said:
“I missed you so much, I love you so much, and now we can be wed.”
