Cigarettes and Cherry Coke
I never knew why he smoked
Why on earth
he refused to cut his hair
He couldn't stop trimming his fingernails
A penny was his biggest finding
I told him that was because he was poor
He lit a match and told me the flame was life
I accused him of being a pyromaniac
He told me that black cherry soda was an american delicacy
I informed him that he lacked sophistication for better taste
He told me the roundness of a bottle cap proved the existance of infinity
I shot back that we were all on a straight path to demise
The day he said he loved me
I called him a freak
He died that day either from cigarettes or heart break
Leaving me the essence of his soul
What's a girl to do?
