Would've, Could've, Should've
He could have held a surgical knife,
they could've been man and wife.
Instead,he was handed a trench knife;
the beginning of the end of his life.
In this brotherhood,he was least misunderstood,
once a month each received a packaged good.
Looking back at all he had withstood,
"I could've stayed home." Could.
He gave up everything to be a Marine,
now his mother is all he cried out for.
His life is what he had to implore:
such are the effects of war.
He begged for a hospital bed,
he was shot and was seeing red.
The military had made him misled.
And now, he is dead.
Dead.
