A scream pierces through the night

As the beast wheels in flight

A fiery eagle against the sky

Ever so dark to the mortal eye

Power courses through her wings

She is the ruler of all things

Years and years of blaze and glory

Are etched in her living story

Yet rain will come to quench the flame

And she alone with bear the pain

Of her furious fall from grace

If her fall in an ashy place

She alone will whisper cries

As the fire of her dies

Stones will forget the blissful scene

Of the flying, flickering dream

But as the sun sets, it will rise

Oh, to see the look in her eyes

When once more she looks and sees

What the world can possibly be

She relearns the joy of the air

No stones to scrape, no twigs to tear

A scream pierces through the night

As the beast wheels in flight

For a while, the phoenix became a very interesting symbol to me- many people must suffer before they can be better
