Perpendicular Paths
Your hand in mine
The world was much sweeter
Everything seemed to rhyme
Our hearts beat on a meter
Now I see all the lies
You’ve definitely left a mark
Your smile when I close my eyes
Burns bright in the dark
Our future was not a puzzle
We just didn’t fit
You began to wear an invisible muzzle
But then you lost it
The words you spoke stung
You said a lot, a bunch
The words weighed a ton
I guess I never meant that much
I was left to mourn
Tears poured down my shirt
My heart was torn
What you said hurt
All that in the past
I’m no longer ‘the one’
Boys like you don’t ever last
Now I’m bursting brighter than the sun
