Holding On to Nothing
If you love someone let them go
Its a love quote we all know
But is the message really true
If its easy to say but hard to do?
Someone please explain to me this riddle
Why do we play our heartstrings like a fiddle?
If leaving them is best why does it leave us in tears
Why does it leave us cut down by shears?
If we love them why would we leave them at all?
Why don't they ever cath us after we fall?
If the only way to love is to lose
Why is it the path we always choose?
If you love something you can't have
Does it make that coveted thing bad?
"If you love someone, let them go"
The only explanation to this I know
Is if you love someone they're worth the pain
Of breaking your heart again and again
