Ode To My Toothpaste
Is it weird that my toothpaste reminds me of Christmas
Of wintry cool days
Snuggling into thermal blankets
With the heat cranked up
Is it weird that my toothpaste reminds me of long nights
Watching snow drift out the window
Of fading lights
As I am wrapped in sleep
Is it weird how my toothpaste makes me remember
My childhood
A time where joyous laughter and
Constant chatter filled that quaint lemon colored house to the brim
Is it weird how my toothpaste transforms to candy canes
Frosted mint cookies
A sharp breathe of life
And a dazzling array of colors
Or is it weird how my toothpaste comforts me
Sends me to the past
Reassures me that simple nights aren’t forgotten
That they do indeed last
