Forest's song
My boots thump on the frosted ground,
Birds sing their songs in the early light of day,
my hair fly’s around my face,
The wind toying with it, running through my fingers
Like a child running away from their parent.
The bare trees limbs reach for the ashen sky,
The dead leaves around me ripple with laughter,
The grass sings slightly,
And the pine tree’s sway with the music known only to their ears.
The ground is cold as I watch and wait,
Water seeping into my many layers of clothing,
The leaves still their song,
The birds cease their melody,
The pines still with their dance,
The trees stand tall and daunting,
My ears roar with a silence known only to the forest
And man alike. (breathe)
(pause) Everything is still,
Tense,
Everything vibrates, as if waiting and watching….
A crow sings it deep throaty song in the distance
Goose bumps run down my spine,
The hair on the back of my neck stands on end,
Everything Shatters the moment like glass,
Sharp shards fly within my bloodstream,
Cutting me and making me alert to everything around me,
Every little movement;
Adrenaline pumping into my heart…
(breathe)
The birds resume their song,
The tree’s resume their play,
The leaves resume their tickling laughter-
The crows sing their haunting song,
Sending goose chills down my spine.
