Goodbye, Summer
In the modest minty room
There was a dusty lamp
And a writer’s weepy tune
And a notebook
filled with rune after rune after rune
And there were several large books peeking through nooks
And two shiny postcards
And crumpled-up discards
And a half-drinken tea
And a little dead bee
And a pen and a note and a paper-hat boat
And a small, curly girl who sung softly as she wrote.
Goodbye room
Goodbye rune
Goodbye rune after rune after rune
Goodbye sleepy whispers
And writer’s weepy tune
Goodbye books
Goodbye nooks
Goodbye postcards
And goodbye discards
Goodbye tireless taxi
Et vale oris laxi
Goodbye tea
And goodbye Bee
Goodbye pen
And goodbye note
Goodbye everyone
Goodbye boat
And goodbye to the girl who sung as she wrote.
Goodbye empty sky
Goodbye light
Goodbye goodbye my city bright

Susan, Blaire, Mary, or John- if you see this, I wanted to say it's me, AJ, and that I had a really great time this summer with all of you. Thanks for everything. <3
