Pebble- A Soliloquy
Alone I sat on a dusty street
gathering dust in the scorching heat,
Kicks and blows came my way
this was how I spent my day,
Half-dead and bored I was
one day all this came to pass,
For once a boy saw my plight
looked around left and right,
He picked me up and threw me far
and I landed in an old broken jar,
A spider lived there before me
full of fun and some comedy,
He told me jokes and ghostly tales
and those were really lovely days,
But all this again had to pass
when I was spied by a lovely lass,
She took me to her house of red
and placed me beside her bed,
A sweet girl and ever so fair
she came from the family “Greybare”,
I named her “Sweet Rosy Cled”
for she smelt sweeter than a rose bed,
Safe from blows, kicks and strife
thank you dear for this new life.
