Lost but Never Found
The bombs explode, the terror strikes.
A burning shard from Hell.
A cut heart deep, a piercing blow,
the tolling of a bell.
Immeasurable scars from strife
hidden beneath the skin.
Crying out to the virgin night
with screams of what had been.
The daytime nightmares grip him tight
From past he cannot hide.
The horrors in him do not leave
His friends for him had died.
A blood drenched past he can’t evade
Parched lips, screams can’t be quelled
The memories from the past
In them he can’t not dwell
They tear at him, he is their prey
He cannot run away
And in the past he cannot hide
The memories, they will stay.
