Reflection
In the sharp light of tonight’s cryptic moon
I observe an empty face
Shrouded in a heavy gloom
I do not recognize this girl, but for her I feel deep sorrow
For a countenance such as this
a new day begins not in the morrow
But instead a baleful, grayish haze
Taints even the brightest of all days
Even the least disorienting maze
Or the lightest, warmest, of all the sun’s rays
This striking, thick despair send my thoughts in disarray
How could such a youthful girl become this dreadful way?
Is it regrettable events that cause her apparent pain?
Is it a loss of shining hope
Or valiant deeds all done in vain?
Sad girl, what’s wrong, I ask her why?
But she frowns, does not reply
The weight of hardship she persists to deny
I wish to hug her, heal her, save her
Befriend her, soothe her, and unchain her…
But alas, familiarity echoes in this face
One that lacks all awareness and lighthearted grace
I am beginning to know this picture, bordered in ebony
Through the glassy expanse I realize
That this sad girl,
Is me
