Night
Night
(for grandma)
I wish that God would never
cry
black salty tears across the heavenly
skies.
I wish the world would
never end
because into hell some would
descend.
I wish he’ll keep the day.
*p.s. I only wish because I rarely get my way.
I wish God’ll let us live
in the light, but some crave
darkness and that ain’t right.
When night comes and strangles the day
I weep and cry, but I know
that God is forever on my side.
So in the bleak and dreary night of today
and tomorrow,
I’ll fear no evil; for God will end all earthly sorrow.
