The leaves flutter to the ground in a delicate heap
Convincing the bears to retire to sleep
The wind picks up and whistles about
While the gathering clouds signal the end of a drought
The temperature drops
And freezes all the crops
The field mice flee
And I imagine my Christmas tree.
