American Empire
Dawn tries to bring her much needed warmth to the cold grey walls of the city, but to no avail.
The concrete canyons, cold and lifeless remnants of the once thriving world stand sadly and majestically
Her denizens walk to and fro like ants on a hill, going about with their daily tasks.
Like a citadel to the displaced it sits over the water, beckoning the unwanted to her embrace.
There used to be an empire here, or so I’m told, all I see are some things forgotten and old.
Like clockwork, men in suits walk out of their steel castles, trying desperately to keep up the charade.
There used to be an empire here, but I don’t see a throne.
Kings of industry once dwelt in this vast iron work, now their children’s children are all that’s left.
Will the king of this new city return, or like all once-great things, will it simply waste away and burn?
