Everlasting
The sparks and flames from the building burn bright,
Like a lighthouse whose lamp creates a sight.
Screams of terror erupt from the gathering crowd,
Someone’s still in there a person said out loud.
Fire trucks and ambulance are loudly heard,
Neighbors try to douse the flame without a word.
Firemen disappear into the building,
Fiver minutes later crashes and ceiling.
Panic spreads through the all the witnesses,
Fear takes over, all happiness ceases.
Hours later, the flame decides to run away,
Firemen go in but find charcoal remains.
Tears stain my cheeks as my heart ceases to beat,
Like all my will to live just admitted defeat.
This is my weakness, the sore spot in my heart,
Where my best friend had no where to dart
This memory still haunts me to this day,
But now I have a reason to keep it at bay.
He died not because it wasn’t meant to be,
But for the fact that it was his time to leave
In a way I still feel his calming essence,
This was decided as his immortal presence.
There are days where I remember the old times,
When we sang karaoke screwing up the lines
The memories bring tears to my eyes,
But I’ve always been bad at saying good-byes.
He was my hero, and my closest friend,
Vowed to stay side by side to the very end.
