Six Feet Under
Leafy vines crawl up mausoleums
Old tombstones lean on one side
A chilly breeze
Swirling dead leaves
All a façade for what lies beneath
Six feet under,
In a large wooden box.
Someone’s mother ceases to breathe
Ceases to move
Ceases to exist
Eyes are closed,
Never to be opened
Hair falls away
Face is sunken
Bones.
Six feet under,
In a large wooden box.
Mud, dirt, Earth
Piled on top
No one hears the screams
As she turns over in her grave
Hair pulled out
Face is scratched
Alive.
Six feet under,
In a large wooden box.
