Maybe One Day
I will never stop longing for you
We are just friends, you and me
Why can’t we try and see if our love would be true?
If I asked to go out, would you agree?
My heart flutters when I look into your eyes
The words get lodged in my throat, every time
I try, but it always ends in our regular goodbyes
There doesn’t seem to be a happy ending to this nursery rhyme.
My dreams consist of only two
You and I together
In these dreams you actually knew
My feeling for you, but they are only a tether
They hold me back from living so free
They make me scared to speak
You are oblivious to my silent plea
Though I scream it off of the highest peak
I scream it over and over
The words meaning so much, they are only three
Maybe one day I will find a lucky clover
And also the courage to foresee
What would happen if I said the words
I. Love. You.
