Math
What is so constant
That doesn’t affect with change?
Even a common, unnoticeable rock
Goes through a life cycle.
Even mere stones have the ability to transform.
What I would do for some part
Of my always morphing life
To stay unaffected
By the whirlwind of change.
But there is.
Numbers. Loyal, unvarying numbers.
For one plus one will always equal two,
Two and two, four,
Four and four, eight.
Although points of views are always adjusting
And new discoveries are always being made,
Math will forever be just that, math.
I can’t help but find comfort in this,
In the sameness.
Is that wrong? Is it wrong to resist change?
Is it wrong to wish for a breath,
A short pause,
A moment in which nothing is moving
And everything is silent.
Maybe not. Maybe when everything is changing
And nothing is like what it was before,
It’s okay to find
Joy
With
Numbers.
