Safe Haven

Her smiles do not cover up
The fact that she’s not there.
Her heart and soul are somewhere else,
A haven far from here.

She’s trapped inside her dreams,
Formed miles away from here.
This is her way to escape,
To steer clear of all her fears.

This place she called her home,
Now lies where she can’t stand.
Her hopes and dreams had vanished here,
And she can't understand.

Can you blame her for the lies?
For the mistakes that she had made?
And bring back the part of her
That made her so afraid.

I like this poem because it's simple, yet it has extreme depth, everything makes sense, all the metaphors click together nicely. I really love this poem.

Holy cow, are you a professional poet? This is one of the best poems i have ever read. It is clear that this is about you, which makes this poem so much deeper than most. It also doesn't sound like you are whining to the world about your problems, either. It just sounds like you told it how it is, in a very tasteful piece. Wonderful, i hope you continue writing.
