Time to Fall
He was cuffed with chains on foot and wrist,
His hair was long, his cheeks sun kissed,
A struggle gleamed in each brown eye,
His life was gone, it passed him bye.
A shoot of pain shot through his spine,
A thought of fear encircled his mind,
Glanced upon with pity and disgrace,
Whipped upon, both back and face.
Forced to work, all day, all night,
Not a spare of hope in sight,
Thirsty, hungry, sick, distraught,
Worry passed through every thought.
The Englishmen, minds at ease,
Slapped this man, to his knees,
His face was caked with blood and dirt,
Every waking moment hurt.
Screams, shouts, cries of death,
Every whimper, every breath,
So many in despair,
So many with no care.
When will it stop, when will it end?
When will peace return again?
No faith remains at all,
His time is up, It is time to fall.
