Don&#039;t let anybody tell you who you are; don&#039;t let anyone tell you that you don&#039;t deserve what you&#039;re willing to work for. <br /> Never give up; you\&#039;ll never know how far you could go until you try to get to where you want to go.

I'm waiting on the bridge
waiting for myself
the other half I lost when you left
can't seem to find it

Walking around
just seeing faceless people
my steps go untaken
names and faces leave my memory

Nothing matters right now
it's just me and the world
trying to re-establish what everything means
learning to let you go

I jump off the bridge
falling hard onto the sand
grains of memory-where we first met
run through me

I just lay there a moment
the sand slips through my fingers
the same way you did
rocks tell me to get up and keep going

I get up and walk
into another dimension, another world
where I live in memory and nothing else
where you can remember, and connect the dots

The glistening ocean waters
whisper my name gently in my ear
the cold air wraps its arms around me
it tells me it's okay to be afraid

The stars reach out and take my hand
tell me to run away
never give up when you've been let down
and then they smile brightly at me again

The sea gulls mock my pain
then get punished by the striking water
silence is deafening
yet so comforting to me

The grass hoppers sing the song they wrote just for me
they sing our song
the one we danced to before
they sang to me all night long

The bees hummed the back up melody
they worked together
like best friends holding hands doing something worthwhile
they made me feel so special

So I'm not as afraid as I used to be
I have friends all around me
I will see you again
but until then, I will let myself have just one more cry

And then they're wiped away
by the realization that you're with me
I'll take some time to rediscover life
the way things used to be

This poem is just about finding yourself when you lose someone you held/hold so close. It's just about taking that time to breathe and remembering and taking in life with a new perspective.
