If I was not afraid
I would open up and tell you how I feel
No other voice would matter
Just mine and yours
If I was not afraid
I would walk up to you
Stare into your beautiful eyes
And let you know I care
If I was not afraid
Thoughts of rejection and loneliness
Would not exist
And I would openly love you
But I am afraid
My fear brings to life those voices and thoughts
And with them a pair of chains
Holding me fast to the ground
Keeping me from telling you how I feel
