The Art of Falling

She’s drowning in their words,
Helplessly taking the fall,
Chained to the ground like broken winged birds,
A newly built wall,

It’s eating her flesh,
Her heart, her mind, her pride,
The meat not so fresh,
She lays bare, weary eyed,

Day after day, she’ll still be squalling,
With no effort in reaching the sky,
She still hasn’t learned the art of falling,
And without that she can’t fly
