The Hand Holding the Gun
The world is too big
For a safety net
And you can’t save ‘em
You can’t save ‘em all,
You know.
You can’t save those
Who will run
In one
Big circle.
No, you can’t save ‘em
From themselves.
You can’t save those
Who want everyone
To run
Around them.
No, you can’t save ‘em
From their minds.
You can’t save those
Who are helplessly
In love
With the impossible.
You can’t save ‘em
From wishing.
So what do you do?
You want that safety net
So bad,
You want to save
The world.
But no,
You can’t,
So what do you do?
The only one
Who can save them
Is the one
Killing them.
But who is that?
That would be them.
So what do you do?
You let them
Let them be
Because
If they’re lucky
They’ll realize
The hand holding the gun
About to go off
Is their own.
The only one
Who can save themselves
From themselves
Is themselves.
Not everyone can
But that’s life.
Keep living.
Save yourself.
