My Great Uncle
Diagnosed with cancer still going strong
Told by the doctor he wouldn't live long
We started spending quality time with him
With each visit he really got slim
I didn't know my uncle very well
But those days spent with him sure were swell
I was very disappointed that he was ill
I found saying goodbye to be a very hard skill
My uncle was a true Irish man
He is part of the great Irish clan
He got the name "velvet touch"
Because he could sink a putt under the clutch
My uncle uncle eventually died
But his life was sure a joyride
with laughter and love
and friends by his side
He will always be a sparkle in my eye
