Petals of a Rose
“He loves me not…”
the petals of a rose
are
soft and
velvet
the gossamer of a pixie’s dress
as delicate as her heart…
“Roses are too fragile,
too easily broken to play with
Love
Please! Don’t let him break—”
“But he loves me...”
the petals of a rose
are
elegant and
enticing
a scarlet red elixir
as enticing as young love…
Then.
Suddenly.
So suddenly.
An earthquake.
A devastating scream
The ground shakes, sobbing
And the sky rips into two.
A rose
thrown to the ground,
trampled
is still
Beautiful
even in its dying hour
a shattered heart
a broken love
Alas! Beware the sorrows of rose colored love!
