Where Did It Go?
It's that feeling you get
watching a re-run with no surprises,
when you realize you just ate the last brownie,
the day after the day with the perfect weather.
That feeling
as you close the back cover a book,
when you play a video game you've already beat,
doing a jigsaw puzzle the second time.
That empty feeling that something is lost,
and you'll never regain it.
That something has cahnged,
and it can't be reversed.
