Omniscient Karma
I listen to you breathe.
I know that sounds a little creepy, but it isn’t.
At least, I don’t think it is…
I think you can tell a lot about someone
By the amount of sighs they let out,
Or how their breathing speeds up at times.
I noticed that you’re calmer at night.
There’s less going on and I think that your mind is at rest.
I try not to talk too much then.
When you’re happy, I can’t really hear the breaths.
That’s only because you’re talking at about a million words per second.
I think it’s cute.
That’s how I know that something’s wrong when you’re quiet.
Even though I can’t always make it better,
I pretend that I can.
I try to listen more when your breaths get short.
That means that you’re trying not to cry.
Your crying breaks my heart.
A lot of the time I wish you would tell me what’s on your mind.
I know you hide a lot of things from me.
Which I guess I can understand.
Sometimes I really want to call you at odd hours in the morning
Just to listen to you breathe.
I think you’d laugh at me, though.
