What is love, I use to ask as stars glittered above
An emotion people would respond, as pure as a white dove
But to me it’s not just a simple feeling
It’s something that takes more than a little dreaming

It can be fiery, cruel, sad, painful
Kind, joyful, laughter, beautiful
Something one seldom feels in life
For love can cut you deeper than any knife

It’s not red or pink nor white or gold
Impossible to place, no colour that bold
It’s the moon at night, the sun by day
It’s special and unique in its own precious way

What is love I once asked the people passing by
It’s physical contact they would say, something you have to try
But to me it’s not simply something that you do
You cant control it, decided it, it’s not a picture that you drew

It can be long or short, false or true
Not green or purple nor black or blue
It’s special and often hard to find
For when you do your life you bind
